He gets to know the candidate and he figures out what they are looking for (for e.g., work, geographic and practice preferences), who they are (personality, work style, background, etc.) and what their goals are, and finds opportunities that match their preferences. Often, these opportunities are not posted on law firm websites and, if they are, he has (or establishes) a direct line of communication with in-house recruiters and partners so that the candidate’s application does not get lost in the shuffle.
