The associate advises on compliance with ERISA, PBGC requirements, and related regulatory frameworks.
Akin’s Labor Transactions Practice advises public and private companies, private equity sponsors, and other investors on labor and employment aspects of complex corporate transactions (including M&A, private equity, credit, and restructurings) to identify, assess, and manage labor-related risks.
Required experience includes employee benefits / ERISA, defined benefit pension plans (specifically multiemployer plan participation/withdrawal liability and single-employer plan terminations including PBGC-related matters), and familiarity with pension issues in corporate transactions or restructurings.
Candidates must possess strong analytical skills, including the ability to understand and work with financial and actuarial concepts related to pension liabilities.
