Overview

  • Midlevel Associate specializing in FERC regulatory law.
  • Available locations: Washington D.C. (preferred), New York, Portland, or San Francisco.
  • Work Focus: Approximately 80% FERC regulatory work, supplemented by 20% data center-related and energy transactional matters.
  • Client Engagement: Advise electric and natural gas utilities, energy infrastructure developers (generation, storage, transmission), and data center clients.
  • Core Responsibilities: Represent clients before FERC on matters arising under the Federal Power Act and Natural Gas Act. Specific areas include electric transmission rates/incentives, interconnection/large-load issues, natural gas pipeline certification/rates/compliance, and regulatory aspects of energy infrastructure transactions.
  • Required Qualifications: JD degree and active bar admission in a U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of post-JD experience with meaningful exposure to FERC regulatory matters.
  • Background & Skills: Must have prior experience at a large law firm or government agency (FERC or state commission), coupled with strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Specific Expertise: Experience with electric and/or natural gas regulatory work is essential, and familiarity with interconnection or energy infrastructure development is preferred.
  • Compensation: Annual salary range of $215,000 to $315,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
