Overview

This is a Paralegal – Patent Litigation (MEPTA) position based in Davis Wright Tremaine's New York office.
The role operates on a hybrid schedule, requiring three days in-office and allowing two days of remote work.
The annualized salary range for this position in New York City is $130,000 - $160,000, with actual pay adjusted based on experience. Comprehensive benefits are also provided.
You will provide paralegal support for patent litigation and complex litigation matters, covering all phases from discovery through trial.
Key responsibilities include managing electronic case files, databases, and e-discovery systems, and coordinating court and agency filings (including District Court and USPTO).
You will assist with motion practice, brief preparation, ensure compliance with court requirements, and organize case materials and calendars.
The role involves complex legal and factual research, preparing initial drafts of discovery requests and responses, managing document collections and productions, and drafting privilege logs.
You will coordinate witness preparation, trial logistics, and courtroom technology; prepare exhibits for depositions and trial; and assist attorneys during proceedings.
This position requires a minimum of 5 years of paralegal experience, preferably in patent litigation or complex commercial litigation.
Candidates must have a Bachelor's Degree and completion of an ABA-approved paralegal program, or demonstrate equivalent knowledge and skill.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required, along with expert use of legal research and e-discovery platforms (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw, PACER, Relativity, IPRO). Familiarity with trial support software like Trial Director or OnCue is highly desirable.
A strong understanding of court and agency procedures, rules, and citation standards (e.g., The Bluebook) is essential.
Success in this role requires strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills, a high degree of attention to detail, and the flexibility to work overtime and travel occasionally as needed.
