Overview

Dentons is hiring a Patent Agent to join its Intellectual Property & Technology practice.
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
Requires at least 5 years of experience as a patent agent, either in a law firm or in-house, drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
Must be registered to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
Key responsibilities include harvesting inventions from clients, advising on patent strategy, evaluating technology, drafting and prosecuting US patent applications, guiding foreign patent applications, contributing to opinion work, client counseling, and supporting litigation efforts.
The role involves working across a wide range of technologies, requiring versatility and adaptability; experience with software patents is beneficial.
You will collaborate with partners, counsels, associates, and patent agents in a close-knit team, often engaging in multidisciplinary IP matters.
Essential skills include strong analytical abilities, excellent technical writing, clear communication of complex technical concepts, attention to detail, and a client-focused approach.
The salary range for this position is $170,000 to $230,000, based on location and experience.
