Overview

Lead and expand the firm's pro bono practice for nonprofit, tax-exempt organizations, with a focus on engaging and mentoring business law attorneys.
Allocate approximately 70% of time to guiding and overseeing other attorneys on pro bono matters, including business development activities, and 30% to direct client service.
Manage the full lifecycle of nonprofit pro bono matters, including screening and onboarding new clients, scoping calls, preparing engagement letters, and overseeing risk management.
Provide substantive legal support and oversight for complex 501(c)(3) matters, serving as a key resource for firm attorneys.
Engage, mentor, and supervise business law attorneys working on nonprofit pro bono matters, offering substantive guidance, training, and support through initiatives like weekly office hours.
Develop and deliver training programs on nonprofit law, entity formation, and corporate governance to promote attorney engagement and professional development.
Collaborate with the Knowledge Management team to maintain and enhance internal resources, forms, and precedents for tax-exempt organization pro bono practice areas.
Engage in business development activities to cultivate new pro bono opportunities for tax-exempt organizations by fostering relationships with legal service organizations and attending industry events.
Substantively report to the Tax Exempt Organizations (TEO) subgroup and work closely with the firm's Pro Bono team.
Requires a JD, active bar admission in your state of practice, and a minimum of six (6) years' experience representing nonprofit, tax-exempt clients. Law firm experience is a plus.
Possess deep expertise in tax-exempt organization law, sound judgment, exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, and a proven ability to supervise, teach, and mentor less experienced attorneys.
Target salary range for this position is $200,000-$250,000.
This is an office-based role with periodic travel required to other firm offices and industry conferences.
