Overview

  • Senior Attorney role focused on managing and expanding the firm's pro bono practice for nonprofit, tax-exempt organizations.
  • Core responsibilities include leading client intake, managing existing matters, providing direct legal support for complex cases, and developing new pro bono opportunities.
  • Dedicate approximately 70% of time to mentoring, training, and oversight of business law attorneys on nonprofit pro bono matters, including weekly office hours.
  • Spend 30% of time providing hands-on legal support for intricate nonprofit, tax-exempt matters, balancing direct client service with mentoring responsibilities.
  • Oversee risk management throughout the pro bono matter lifecycle, from intake to closure, and design relevant staffing policies.
  • Cultivate new pro bono client opportunities by fostering relationships with legal services organizations and attending industry conferences.
  • Enhance knowledge management resources, forms, and precedents for tax-exempt pro bono work, and develop/deliver relevant training programs.
  • Required: Minimum six (6) years of experience representing nonprofit, tax-exempt clients, with deep expertise in tax-exempt organization law and practice.
  • Qualifications: JD required, admitted and in good standing in your state of practice. Must possess strong communication skills, sound judgment, organizational abilities, and a proven capacity to mentor and supervise attorneys effectively.
  • Substantively reports to the Tax Exempt Organizations (TEO) group and works closely with the firm's Pro Bono team.
  • Compensation: Salary range of $200,000 - $250,000, commensurate with relevant experience.
  • Work arrangement: Office-based with periodic travel to other firm offices and industry conferences.
