Overview

  • Draft patent applications, including detailed specifications and claims, in coordination with inventors and in-house counsel.
  • Conduct comprehensive prior art searches, freedom-to-operate (FTO) analyses, and assess inventions for patentability and potential infringement risks.
  • Support IP due diligence efforts for mergers, acquisitions, investments, and licensing transactions.
  • Perform IP landscape and competitive intelligence analyses to inform client R&D and business planning.
  • Advise clients on patent portfolio development, management, and global prosecution strategies, including preparing responses to office actions.
  • Candidates must have strong academic credentials and demonstrated technical writing and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with US and international patent law principles, particularly in the life sciences and biotech domains, is required.
  • Eligibility to sit for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) registration examination is required; active USPTO registration is strongly preferred.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering is preferred.
  • Prior law firm or in-house IP experience, specifically involving patent preparation and prosecution, is preferred.
  • The target salary range for this position is $145,000 - $155,000.
