Overview

  • The role is primarily in-office (3-4 days per week) in the San Diego (Del Mar) office, with regular presence required for operations, team meetings, training, and relationship building. Flexibility to work overtime as needed is also required.
  • The position reports to the Business Director and provides organizational and practice-specific assistance to attorneys, a Co-Managing Shareholder for the San Diego office, and other Firmwide team members across the General Litigation, Probate Litigation, and Labor & Employment departments.
  • Core responsibilities include assisting attorneys through all case stages from onset to post-trial, managing case calendars, organizing and maintaining case materials, supporting discovery (depositions, written discovery, expert discovery), overseeing document reviews, and performing analytical tasks such as witness interview memoranda and document/transcript summaries.
  • Further responsibilities involve E-filings in local and federal courts, conducting legal/factual research, drafting and serving subpoenas, preparing FOIA requests, supporting law and motion practice (filings, cite checking), and assisting with trial preparation (notebooks, exhibits, witness schedules). The role requires maintaining accurate timekeeping and meeting a 1,600 annual billable hour requirement.
  • Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, be qualified as a Paralegal pursuant to California Business and Professional Code §6450, and possess a minimum of 6 years of Litigation Paralegal experience within a law firm.
  • Required experience includes trial experience (exhibit/witness preparation, subpoena knowledge, working with judicial assistants/trial vendors), familiarity with governmental agencies involved in Labor & Employment matters (e.g., EEOC, NLRB, AAA, DOL), and proficiency with E-filing and litigation support applications such as Concordance, Summation, and Live Note.
  • An understanding of AI capabilities, limitations, and responsible use, along with familiarity or willingness to learn firm-approved AI tools (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT), is expected to support daily workflow and improve work quality.
