Overview

  • The Assistant Managing Attorney supports the US Managing Attorney, overseeing legal compliance, risk management, court and agency operations, and procedural guidance across all US departments, including Litigation, IP, Corporate, and Real Estate.
  • This is a permanent, exempt, hybrid position based in New York.
  • Key responsibilities include providing procedural guidance and legal analysis to attorneys and paralegals on complex state and federal court matters, covering filing strategies, motion practice, and compliance.
  • Review legal filings for accuracy, form, and procedural compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Oversee and manage court and agency filing operations, including electronic filings, service of process, and coordinating external vendor relationships (e.g., process servers, e-filing providers).
  • Supervise and mentor support staff, and assist with training new attorneys on firm procedures, court rules, and jurisdictional requirements.
  • Identify and implement process improvements for docketing, filing, and compliance functions to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Manage pro hac vice admissions and provide guidance on US bar admission requirements, particularly for international attorneys, to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Candidates must possess a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and active bar admission in New York State.
  • Requires 2-5 years of relevant experience, preferably supporting managing attorney or legal operations functions. Candidates transitioning from active legal practice are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong familiarity with federal, state, and local court systems (including e-filing) and procedural rules, with an in-depth understanding of docketing and calendaring processes, is essential.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, CourtAlert, Pacer, NYSCEF, and other court e-filing/document retrieval systems is required.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and communication abilities are necessary, with flexibility to work outside normal hours when needed.
  • The salary range for this role is $180,000 - $200,000, dependent on skills and experience.
