Overview

  • Conflicts Attorney role based in New York, reporting to the Heads of Conflicts within the General Counsel and Risk team.
  • The salary range for this full-time, permanent position is $180,000–$215,000, with exact compensation varying based on skills and experience.
  • Responsible for analyzing and advising on conflicts of interest, new business intake, and client due diligence processes to ensure compliance with professional conduct rules and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex clearances, providing guidance to Conflicts Analysts and foreign-qualified lawyers on US legal and ethical questions.
  • Facilitate resolution of commercial conflicts by collaborating with practice group heads, sector leads, and Conflicts Partners, aligning decisions with the firm’s strategic growth priorities.
  • Review and provide guidance on conflicts provisions in engagement terms, outside counsel guidelines, and requests for proposal, drafting conflict waivers as appropriate.
  • Support conflicts clearance, onboarding, client transfers, and matter openings for lateral partners and other new hires.
  • Contribute to establishing, updating, and implementing risk management policies, controls, and procedures, including supporting information barrier processes and compliance audits.
  • Conduct research and advise partners, fee-earners, and business services teams on applicable rules of professional conduct, legislation, regulations, and firm policies related to ethics and new business acceptance.
  • Support the development, testing, and implementation of new intake software and strategic projects, while also monitoring changes to the legal and regulatory landscape.
  • Requires admission as an Attorney in New York or another US State. Prior conflicts experience is preferred but not essential, as full training will be provided.
  • Desired skills include excellent research, analytical, and communication abilities, strong commercial awareness, an understanding of risk in a law firm environment, and the capacity to manage multiple deadlines.
