This is an IP Patent Prosecution Associate role focused on Bioinformatics & Computational Biology.
You will manage patent portfolios for clients in AI-enabled drug discovery, digital therapeutics, digital pathology, and drug-device-digital combination technologies.
Core responsibilities include drafting and prosecuting U.S. and international patent applications and conducting freedom-to-operate, validity, and patentability analyses.
You will also assist with IP due diligence, portfolio management, strategic counseling, and provide scientific/technical expertise for litigation and licensing.
Required education is a degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, biomedical engineering, or a related discipline (an advanced degree is preferred).
Candidates must be registered to practice before the USPTO and admitted to a local state bar, both in good standing.
A strong background in engineering, computer science, or bioinformatics is essential, with demonstrated expertise in areas like AI/ML for drug discovery, digital therapeutics, computational pathology, genomics, or processor architecture/software systems for computational biology.
A minimum of one year of prior patent prosecution experience in a law firm or in-house setting is strongly preferred.
You must be able to translate complex scientific and technological concepts into clear legal documents.
This is an on-site position; it is not remote or hybrid.
The salary range for this position in California is $225,000 - $495,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
