Overview

  • Serve as an IP Patent Prosecution Associate specializing in biological sciences.
  • Manage and strategically counsel on patent portfolios for life sciences clients, ranging from early-stage startups to global pharmaceutical companies.
  • Work with cutting-edge technologies including gene editing, cell and gene therapies, antibody and peptide therapeutics, and molecular diagnostics.
  • Core responsibilities include drafting and prosecuting U.S. and international patent applications in biotechnology and related disciplines.
  • Conduct freedom-to-operate, validity, and patentability analyses, and assist with IP due diligence.
  • Requires a Ph.D. in biological sciences (e.g., molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, immunology); an M.S. with several years of industry research experience may also be considered.
  • Must be registered to practice before the USPTO and admitted to a state bar, both in good standing.
  • Possess a strong background in biotechnology or biopharmaceutical sciences, with demonstrated expertise in areas like gene editing, antibodies, and cell and gene therapies.
  • Minimum one year of prior patent prosecution experience in biotechnology (law firm or in-house) is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to translate complex scientific concepts into clear legal documents.
  • This is an on-site position, not remote or hybrid.
  • The expected salary range is $225,000 - $495,000, depending on qualifications and location (Boston, CA, NYC).
