Overview

  • The role is for a Lateral Conflicts Attorney within the Conflicts & Business Review Department, which is part of the General Counsel’s Office.
  • You will report directly to the Associate Director of Lateral Conflicts and work closely with a team of Lateral Conflicts Attorneys.
  • Core responsibilities include conducting comprehensive reviews of conflict questionnaires and reports to identify and resolve potential business and ethical conflicts for incoming lateral attorneys.
  • You will draft and review conflicts memoranda, waiver letters, and notice letters, advise on conflict of interest analyses and firm policies, and communicate required next steps to lawyers and staff.
  • This position also involves advising on issues under the rules of professional responsibility and facilitating the onboarding of new hires and transferring matters with lateral candidates and firm personnel.
  • You will need to compare and analyze large volumes of information under tight deadlines, responding promptly to incoming inquiries and shifting priorities.
  • Required qualifications include a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) and an active law license in your located jurisdiction.
  • A minimum of three years of post-law school legal work experience is preferred, along with excellent oral and written communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • A working knowledge of the rules of professional conduct is essential. Previous conflicts experience, including reviewing reports, researching corporate affiliations, drafting waivers, and advising on conflict rules across U.S. and non-U.S. jurisdictions, is preferred but not required.
  • The primary availability is during business hours from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm EST, with flexibility to work outside this standard schedule as needed.
  • Periodic on-call rotation is required. Remote work is an option, subject to firm location approval, and occasional travel to the Atlanta office may be required.
  • The full-time annualized salary range for locations such as New York, Washington, DC, Chicago, Denver, Sacramento, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Silicon Valley is $145,000-$160,000. The salary offer will be contingent upon factors like relevant experience, market data, and job location.
  • The firm offers a comprehensive benefit program, including health and wellness plans, life and disability insurance, flexible spending accounts, a 401(k) plan, profit sharing plan, and a substantial Paid Time Off (PTO) program.
