Overview

The Innovation Economy Finance practice focuses on helping companies and investors in technology, life sciences, AI, fintech, and digital infrastructure access capital, advising founders, venture-backed companies, growth-stage businesses, private equity sponsors, venture capital funds, growth equity investors, private credit funds, banks, and other institutional lenders.
Associates will advise on a broad range of complex financing transactions including venture debt and growth capital facilities, bilateral and syndicated credit facilities, acquisition financings, recurring revenue/cash flow-based financings, asset-based and structured financings, convertible/hybrid financing structures, subscription/NAV facilities, warehouse/specialty finance transactions, cross-border deals, and bespoke solutions for strategic investments.
The practice emphasizes creativity, often involving the development of novel financing structures for companies and investors in rapidly evolving industries where traditional lending models may not apply.
Associates are expected to lead transaction execution and manage financing processes, draft and negotiate various financing documents, work directly with key stakeholders (borrowers, lenders, sponsors, founders, investment professionals), coordinate multidisciplinary internal teams, mentor junior lawyers, and contribute to business development.
Strong experience representing borrowers, lenders, sponsors, or investors is sought, with particular encouragement for candidates with backgrounds in acquisition finance, private credit, venture lending, structured finance, or fund finance.
The Bay Area finance team is deeply integrated into the region's innovation ecosystem, leveraging the firm's global finance practice and collaborating closely with leading Emerging Companies & Growth, Private Equity, M&A, Capital Markets, and Investment Funds practices.
