Overview

Associate Attorney for the Life Sciences Team based in McGuireWoods' Charlotte office.
Requires 3-5 years of relevant legal experience, preferably gained within a top 100 law firm.
Focus on life sciences regulatory advisory work, contract review, and transactional matters.
Transactional experience should include licenses, M&A, IPOs, Private Equity, Venture Capital, Debt Finance, and other banking investment deals.
Deep expertise in FDA regulatory compliance for drugs, biologics, and medical devices, covering product development, clearances/approvals (e.g., INDs, NDAs, 510(k)s), labeling, manufacturing, recalls, advertising/promotional review, and contracting with life sciences vendors.
Strong background in OIG, CMS, and DOJ matters affecting the life sciences industry, including public/private reimbursement, drug pricing, anti-kickback laws, False Claims Act, transparency laws, and compliance program design.
Desired additional experience includes state pharmacy board regulations, DEA permitting, FDA establishment licensing, debarment/exclusion issues, telemedicine, or litigation-adjacent life sciences roles.
Experience servicing and understanding life sciences clients such as pharmaceutical, medical device, diagnostics companies, academic medical centers, and various investors in the sector.
Candidates with prior in-house life sciences, government agency (FDA, CMS, DOJ), or relevant healthcare experience are highly favored.
Strong academic record, excellent writing, oral communication, and interpersonal skills are essential.
North Carolina Bar admission is required.
This position operates on a hybrid work model.
