The role focuses on sophisticated matters at the intersection of employment law, executive mobility, and corporate transactions, distinct from traditional employment law.
The team advises corporate clients and private equity sponsors on employment issues in acquisitions, divestitures, leadership transitions, restrictive covenant disputes, and post-closing integration.
The practice works closely with McGuireWoods’ nationally ranked Healthcare, Private Equity, and M&A teams.
Counseling responsibilities include workplace policies, employment compliance, employee relations (e.g., discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage-and-hour issues), and advising on restrictive covenants and wage misclassification, covering their structuring, drafting, and enforceability.
Responsibilities include leading employment-related due diligence in corporate and private equity transactions (identifying risks, developing mitigation, supervising junior associates), independently managing complex employment matters and transactional workstreams, and partnering with senior executives on sensitive personnel and leadership transition issues.
The position also involves providing mentorship and developmental support to junior associates.
