Overview

  • This is an Entry-Level Paralegal position within the Appellate group, available in San Francisco or Washington, D.C.
  • You will support the firm's national appellate practice in the Supreme Court, federal courts of appeals, and state appellate courts.
  • Core responsibilities include cite-checking, drafting, and filing briefs, appendices, procedural motions, and other legal documents with various appellate courts.
  • You will conduct factual research for ongoing appeals and maintain administrative information, court rules, and details on open appeals and related documents.
  • Opportunities exist to assist with pro bono matters and prepare business development materials.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum 3.5 GPA is required.
  • Key skills needed include strong critical thinking, writing, and communication abilities, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • The role requires efficiency, ability to meet deadlines under direct supervision, high accuracy, the capacity to manage multiple projects concurrently, and flexibility to work overtime as needed.
  • The salary range for the San Francisco location is $46,000 to $63,000.
  • The salary range for the Washington, D.C. location is $43,000 to $60,000.
  • Additional compensation may include a discretionary bonus, overtime, health/welfare benefits, retirement contributions, paid holidays, and PTO.
  • Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, and disability coverage options, parental leave, family benefits (adoption, fertility treatment, backup child/elder care), a global wellness program, annual community service day, a birthday holiday, and education reimbursement.
