Overview

Location: San Francisco, California.
Position: Partner-track attorney specializing in data protection, privacy, and AI law.
Experience: Minimum 2-3 years of post-bar experience in regulatory investigations (e.g., State AG, FTC) or defending data privacy/security class actions (e.g., data breach, wiretapping claims).
Compliance Focus: Advise businesses on major global and U.S. data protection legal frameworks, including GDPR, CCPA, FTC Act, HIPAA, GLBA, COPPA, and TCPA.
AI Expertise: Counsel on AI systems, automated decision-making, and related regulatory compliance (e.g., EU AI Act, U.S. federal/state AI laws), including establishing AI governance programs.
Drafting & Negotiation: Draft and negotiate data-related agreements (e.g., data processing, cross-border transfer, vendor contracts) and privacy policies (e.g., notices, terms of service, incident response plans).
Incident Response: Manage data breach preparation, risk mitigation, coordination, and response efforts.
Regulatory Response: Respond to regulatory inquiries and investigations concerning privacy compliance and data breaches.
Corporate Transactions: Conduct privacy and security due diligence for corporate transactions.
Required Qualifications: Juris Doctorate from an accredited U.S. law school with excellent academics, and active membership in the California State Bar.
Core Skills: Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills; ability to engage directly with clients and lead significant projects; general tech fluency.
Desired Background: Previous or current employment with an Am Law 100 firm is desired. Sector-specific experience (e.g., financial services, children’s privacy, telecom, biometrics) is a plus.
Compensation: Salary range for this role is $235,000 – $260,000, dependent on skillset and experience.
