  • Energy, Infrastructure, Project and Asset Finance Group
  • Serves leading companies, financial institutions, and governments worldwide.
  • Focuses on major sectors including power generation and transmission, oil & gas, infrastructure, mining & metals, water, and telecommunications.
  • Collaborates with M&A, Capital Markets, and Regulatory & Compliance practices.
  • Operating from more than 40 locations, with people representing 90 nationalities and speaking 80 languages.

About the Role

  • Advising clients on compliance with federal and state electricity regulations (e.g., FERC and state public utility commissions).
  • Representing clients in administrative proceedings before FERC and state public utility commissions.
  • Drafting and negotiating electricity-related agreements, including Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and interconnection agreements.
  • Prosecuting administrative litigation and regulatory approvals, and defending audit and enforcement actions for pipeline and electricity providers.
  • Providing regulatory compliance counseling and regulatory support for mergers and acquisitions in the electricity sector.

Key Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to practice and in good standing in the jurisdiction of the office.
  • 3 years of relevant law firm or in-house experience, with a focus on electricity regulatory matters and transactional experience.
  • Demonstrated experience advising on electricity regulatory compliance, FERC and/or state public utility commission proceedings, and electricity market issues.
  • Highly organized, deadline-focused, with excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
