Overview

  • Junior Associate position in the M&A Corporate Practice, based in the Houston office.
  • Requires 1+ years of substantive M&A experience from a leading law firm, with a strong foundation in both public and private company transactions.
  • Advise privately held and high-growth companies, private equity funds, and corporate strategics on mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, corporate restructurings, joint ventures, and general corporate matters.
  • Experience representing buyers, sellers, and financial sponsors in domestic and cross-border transactions is essential.
  • Key responsibilities include drafting basic legal documents (e.g., term sheets, NDAs, simple purchase agreements), supporting due diligence, assisting at negotiations, managing case files, handling basic client communications, and running discrete aspects of transactions independently with supervision.
  • Compensation for this role ranges from $225,000 to $260,000.
  • Candidates must possess a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and be admitted to the Texas Bar or have the ability to become admitted.
  • Essential skills include a strong academic record, excellent legal drafting, writing, analytical, organizational, project management, and time management abilities, coupled with sound legal and commercial judgment, effective communication, client-service orientation, and a proactive, resourceful approach.
