Overview

  • Support intellectual property matters including patent prosecution, client counseling, opinions, litigation, and transactional work.
  • Responsibilities include preparing patent applications and responses, working with inventors, conducting scientific and patent searches, assisting with litigation analyses, and drafting IP opinions.
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a specialized Semiconductor Engineering program.
  • Preferably possess industry experience and/or a PhD in semiconductor processing/manufacturing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • No prior patent law experience or U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) registration is required.
  • The role is part of a program requiring enrollment in an ABA-accredited evening law school program (day programs considered) to obtain a law degree within four years.
  • Expected to pass the USPTO patent bar exam to become a registered patent agent. If offered an associate position, you will then take a state bar exam.
  • Eligible for a law school tuition reimbursement program and may be offered a summer associate position after your third year of law school.
  • Compensation ranges annually: $130,000 (not in law school), $150,000 (1st year in law school), $160,000 (2nd year), $170,000 (3rd year), and $215,000 (4th year).
  • This is a hybrid position.
