Overview

  • Focuses on a wide range of intellectual property matters, including patent prosecution, client counseling, opinions, patent litigation support, and IP transactional work.
  • Core responsibilities involve drafting patent applications, responding to patent office communications, conducting scientific and patent searches, instructing foreign counsel, and assisting attorneys with patentability, validity, freedom-to-operate, infringement opinions, and litigation analyses.
  • Requires an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a specialized Semiconductor Engineering program.
  • A PhD in semiconductor processing/manufacturing and/or relevant industry experience is preferred.
  • Candidates are expected to enroll in an ABA-accredited evening law school (day programs considered case-by-case), complete a JD within four years, and pass the USPTO patent bar exam to become a registered patent agent.
  • The role offers a potential path to a summer associate position after the third year of law school, and subsequently an associate position at the firm upon passing a state bar exam.
  • Prior patent law experience or USPTO registration is not required.
  • The firm provides a law school tuition reimbursement program.
  • Annual compensation varies based on law school enrollment status: $130,000 (not in school), $150,000 (1st year), $160,000 (2nd year), $170,000 (3rd year), and $215,000 (4th year).
