Overview

  • Work as a Technology Specialist within the Intellectual Property practice, assisting attorneys across patent prosecution, client counseling, and litigation matters.
  • Key responsibilities include drafting patent applications, responding to patent office communications, conducting scientific and patent searches, and working directly with inventors.
  • Assist attorneys in preparing patentability, validity, freedom-to-operate, and infringement opinions.
  • Support patent litigation efforts by analyzing technical issues, reviewing patent file histories, and examining technical literature.
  • Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a specialized Semiconductor Engineering program.
  • Industry experience and/or a PhD in semiconductor processing/manufacturing is preferred.
  • This role is part of a program requiring enrollment in an ABA-accredited evening law school to obtain a law degree in four years; day programs may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Candidates must pass the USPTO patent bar examination to become a registered patent agent. Law school tuition reimbursement is provided.
  • Opportunity to participate in the firm's summer associate program and progress to an associate position upon graduating law school and passing a state bar exam.
  • Strong academic credentials or prior work experience, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills, are essential. Prior patent law experience or USPTO registration is not required.
  • Salary ranges vary based on law school enrollment status: $130,000 (not in law school), $150,000 (1st year law school), $160,000 (2nd year), $170,000 (3rd year), and $215,000 (4th year).
  • This position operates under a hybrid work model.
